If you're at LaCenterra on Friday, October 30, for Viva La Vida, are you eating from a booth on Heritage Square or at a table that wasn't there last Halloween? This year both are real choices. The center added several new tenants in 2026, and the event nights bring in a separate group of local food vendors who are only there for the evening. The season looks different depending on which of the two you plan around.
Friday Night on the Square
Viva La Vida is Friday, October 30. LaCenterra describes it as a celebration "inspired by the spirit of Día de los Muertos," and it's free. It runs on two schedules in two places:
- Central Green, 5 to 7 p.m.: traditional dance, cultural storytelling, face painting, Coco-inspired characters and a stilt walker dressed as a towering Mexican doll.
- Heritage Square, 5 to 9 p.m.: a live DJ, mariachi, Catrina photo spots and a Salsa Casino show.
- Ambriza's, later in the evening: a 21+ VIP experience that keeps going after the family hours.
Central Green Park lists its part of the evening as a Día de los Muertos event run with LaCenterra's celebration. Admission is free at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. LaCenterra asks guests to RSVP through the event's Eventbrite page.
The food lineup is where the evening stands apart from an ordinary trip to LaCenterra. The center names six vendors for the night: El Guajillo, The Zydeco Bowl, HOMIES, Beverly Ann's, CC's Hot Tamales and Sweets with L&L. Local vendors and community partners will also be selling along the walkways. None of the six shows up in this year's new-tenant news, which is the point. They're the one-night menu.
The Every-Day Menu Changed This Year
Several of 2026's new storefronts in and around LaCenterra are expansions of brands that already run multiple locations. In the order they appeared:
| Business | Location | Status | Reported by |
|---|---|---|---|
| JuiceLand | 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd., Ste. F110 | Opened May 28 | Community Impact, June 2 |
| North Italia | 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. | Announced to open June 10 | Covering Katy, June 1 |
| Tavolina 44 | Villagio Town Center, 22756 Westheimer Pkwy., Ste. 180 | Open | Covering Katy, Sept. 6 |
| PopUp Bagels | LaCenterra | Listed in the center's directory with posted hours | LaCenterra |
| The Flying Biscuit Cafe | 1660 S. Mason Rd. | Expected late November | Community Impact, Oct. 14 |
| Hudson House | 2643 Commercial Center Blvd. | Expected spring or summer 2027 | Community Impact, Oct. 9 |
Community Impact reported that JuiceLand's LaCenterra shop is the Austin-based chain's 12th in Greater Houston, selling juices, smoothies, matcha and plant-based lunch options. PopUp Bagels is newer to the directory. In July, My Neighborhood News reported a planned shop at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd., Suite 1130, with construction scheduled from August 1 to September 15. LaCenterra now posts store hours for it on its PopUp Bagels page.
On Friday, that means the familiar names along the walkways are new this year, and the stalls on Heritage Square sell food you won't find there on a Tuesday.
The Exception on Westheimer Parkway
One new restaurant in the table works differently from the rest. Tavolina 44 at Villagio Town Center comes from Isa Loshaj, who owns Good Times Kitchen + Bar in Midtown. The Houston Chronicle reported in January that the Cinco Ranch spot would lean more Italian than the Midtown restaurant and keep some of its Balkan signatures. One of those is sujuk, a dry, fermented sausage that has been in Loshaj's family for about a century, going back to when they lived in Kosovo.
Loshaj told the Chronicle he lives in Cinco Ranch. "I live five minutes from there," he said. He described the new restaurant as something "more family" and said "brunch is going to be great." The restaurant's own site now says it's open and describes modern Italian cooking with handmade pasta, stone-oven pizza, and American and Balkan influences.
For a holiday season in Cinco Ranch, that makes Tavolina 44 the in-between option. It's an everyday restaurant on Westheimer Parkway, run by an owner who lives in the neighborhood.
What Opens While the Lights Are Up
The every-day menu keeps changing through the season. Three dates fall inside it or just after.
Late November, Mason Knolls. The Flying Biscuit Cafe is expected to open at 1660 S. Mason Road in late November. Community Impact reported that the Atlanta-based Southern breakfast and lunch spot already has five Greater Houston locations, and that its menu includes stuffed French toast, shrimp and grits, omelets, vegan scrambles, burgers and wraps. Franchise partners Mario and Ifeoma Harper said they chose the site because it's easy for families to reach. As Mario Harper put it in the release Community Impact quoted:
"We chose this location in Katy because it's a highly visible, convenient spot that's easy for families and neighbors to reach, making it simple for guests to drop in for breakfast, brunch and those 'just one more bite' moments in between."
If it opens on schedule, it should be open around the time of the tree lighting.
November 18 through February 18, Commercial Center Blvd. FACE FOUNDRIÉ, a facial bar franchise, plans a studio of about 1,600 square feet at 2717 Commercial Center Blvd., Suite E170. My Neighborhood News reported that a state filing puts the $150,000 buildout from November 18, 2026, to February 18, 2027. The outlet noted that the end date is a construction target, not an opening date. That means a storefront will be under construction for the whole holiday season.
Spring or summer 2027, Commercial Center Blvd. Hudson House is planned for 2643 Commercial Center Blvd. Community Impact described a 5,600-square-foot space with leather booths, a wraparound bar, a sit-down raw bar and an outdoor patio. The menu centers on seafood, with East Coast oysters flown in daily, sushi and a martini chilled to 10 degrees. It won't be open for this season, but it's a sign of where the center's lineup is heading next year.
The Calendar From Here
After Friday, LaCenterra has four more dates posted. Three of the listings say more details are coming, and none of the four names performers or parking plans yet.
- November 20, Annual Tree Lighting. LaCenterra calls this its biggest event of the year: a 50-foot Christmas tree, holiday activities, live entertainment and booths from local businesses and retail vendors. The vendor booths are where this season's one-night menu returns.
- December 7 through 22, Holiday Performances. LaCenterra lists live seasonal entertainment across those two weeks but hasn't posted a day-by-day schedule.
- December 11, Santa's List. Children write wish lists, visit with Santa, and get story time and treats.
- December 31, Noon Year's. A daytime family countdown at noon, with music and activities.
All of these are listed on LaCenterra's events page, which is the place to check as details are added.
If your route to LaCenterra uses Greenbusch Road, expect the reconstruction between Gaston Road and Westheimer Parkway to still be underway all season. Community Impact reported utility conflicts on the project and a timeline that runs to February 2027.
The event dates above stay the same through December. The restaurant list doesn't. By the tree lighting, the Mason Knolls breakfast spot may be open. By New Year's Eve, one Commercial Center storefront will be about halfway through its buildout, and the Hudson House space will still be waiting for next year.
We pay attention to which tables open, and which corners change, around here because Cinco Ranch is where we live and work. If keeping up with what's changing in the neighborhood is part of a bigger decision you're weighing, Topmark Realty Group is glad to talk it through with you, over brunch at one of the new spots if you'd like. Let's talk about your next move.
